Data Engineer

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity, in which the successful candidate will be hands on and be able to support solution reviews and designs, enabling best practice and providing assurance on the development approach.

The successful candidate will have experience working on Microsoft based data platform projects and have strong SQL experience, preferably TSQL and SQL Server. Previous experience of delivering data solutions using SQL Server and TSQL, along with knowledge of .Net Technologies and Azure DevOps would be beneficial

Key Responsibilities

Developing, testing, and documenting complex pipelines from a design specification into the enterprise data warehouse.

Ensure that agreed standards and tools are utilised to achieve well-engineered outcomes.

Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes within allocated areas of ownership.

Implementing new Facts and Dimensions within the enterprise data warehouse.

Assisting with troubleshooting data issues, performance issues, validating result sets, recommending, and implementing process improvements.

Developing an effective working relationship with members of the wider IT teams, ensuring efficient support of business requirements.

Participate in reviews of work to ensure developments are standardised, reliable, and maintainable.

Experience & Skills

Experience with custom built data warehousing projects in Microsoft technologies. This should incorporate some knowledge of Kimble design or an equivalent.

Experience with one or more of the following: data processing automation, data quality, data warehousing, data governance, business intelligence, data visualization, data privacy

Experience with SQL, ETL, data modelling and at least one programming language (e.g., VB, Java, Python, C++, C#, Scala).

Experience designing, coding, testing, and correcting complex SQL models and scripts.

Knowledge of data analysis, data modelling and quality assurance techniques.

Experience in Azure platform architecture and developing data engineering pipeline in the cloud would be beneficial.

Experience in ADF and Azure Analysis Services.

Experience with SSRS, Power BI or similar reporting tools.

Familiarity with Cloud Virtual machines and the Microsoft Azure security model.

Familiarity with DevOps deployment pipelines, .Net Windows Services and web forms would be desirable.
